Over 1,400 lucky fans in Toronto attended Mario’s Canadian Karting Day, a one-day event hosted on May 31 by Nintendo of Canada to celebrate the launch of Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. In addition to racing on the track and in the game, Mario and 15 year-old National Canadian Karting Champion Jeffrey Kingsley were on site to greet fans.

Held at 401 Mini-Indy Go Karts, Mario Kart 8 fans got a chance to take the game onto the track with a free go kart race for the chance to win a Spiny Shell trophy!  For those who wondered what they would look like racing upside down, there was an Anti-Gravity Photo Booth set up.   All the day’s fun was captured by Mario Kart fans who shared their experience on social media with the made-for-Mario Kart hashtag: #ijustkarted.

Check out some of the great photos from Mario’s Canadian Karting Day attached to this email and on Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page.
