New Nintendo 3DS Game is a Portable Dream Come True for Any Disney Fan

VANCOUVER, B.C., April 11, 2014 – A whole new world awaits players in Disney Magical World, launching today for the Nintendo 3DS system. After creating a personalized avatar and a customized dream life, players embark on a 3D fantasy adventure featuring more than 60 iconic Disney characters across a main central plaza and its four surrounding worlds inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Aladdin and Winnie the Pooh. It’s all Disney, all the time, as players interact with beloved characters, run a café to earn in-game coins, set off on ghost-hunting quests and even visit friends’ towns via the StreetPass feature.

“It’s very exciting to see two powerhouses in entertainment – Nintendo and Disney – come together to develop a family-friendly video game,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “With Disney Magical World, players of all ages can experience the magic of Disney through the magic of the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems.”

Endless opportunities for creativity and customization allow the imagination to run wild in Disney Magical World. With more than 1,000 items, players can hone their design skills to create hundreds of personalized Disney-themed outfits, accessories and furniture. Budding green thumbs can plant and harvest crops in the Hundred Acre Wood. Aspiring restaurateurs can design a café from its décor to its menu. As they foster its success through careful management, players can earn valuable in-game coins and even pique the interest of favourite Disney characters to stop by for a meal. The personal “My Room” retreat above the café offers another customizable opportunity with even more items and furniture.

For players looking for a dose of adventure, the Disney Magical World game features many exciting quests and unique collectibles. By collecting and using magic wands with different skill sets, players can battle through ghost-filled forests and dungeons. Players also can help various Disney characters retrieve missing hard-to-find items on these action-filled excursions.

Several aspects of the game leverage the unique features of the Nintendo 3DS system. By scanning Disney Magical World-specific AR Cards – which will be distributed online, in stores and at special events – with the Nintendo 3DS camera, players can unlock new clothes, accessories and furniture items. Players can connect locally or through StreetPass to interact with other players and scope out their customized avatars, towns and cafés. The game also offers additional free and paid downloadable content via Wi-Fi to players using a broadband Internet connection, including one free monthly in-game Disney-themed avatar T-shirt. Players also can opt in to receive free downloadable items like clothing and furniture every season, starting today.

As an added bonus, players who visit a Nintendo Zone location between April 18 and August 7 will be able to download free exclusive items, most of which are themed to Pinocchio. These include Pinocchio hats and outfits, goldfish bowls and wallpaper. New items are available every two weeks, so players should keep checking back.
