The Intel-powered Jolla tablet, the world’s first crowdsourced tablet project, will be available for a new phase of crowdsourcing for consumers to contribute. This new phase will help lower the cost of the tablets and help introduce more options to the Jolla tablet series.

For example, the 64GB option will be introduced in addition to the 32GB that was launched in the first phase. The tablet reached its first phase of crowdsourcing goal within two hours when it was announced last November. In fact, it raised over US$1.8 million, five times of its original target, in the first 21 days. The Jolla tablet is based on the Intel® Atom™ processor 3700 Series, runs on the company’s independent operating system Sailfish OS, and provides a smooth multitasking experience with Android application compatibility. The Jolla Tablet is available starting at US$219, and it is expected to ship in second quarter of 2015.
